Cubans are known for their ability to find humor in adversity, often laughing at their own misfortunes and turning daily struggles into clever jokes. Digital creator Yoslyn Alemán and his mother have become social media sensations, thanks to the witty remarks of his mother from Cuba.
During a video call with his mom, Yoslyn began with the usual, "What's up, how's everything?" He was taken aback by her response on the other end of the line. "I'm here, waiting for the parole or the CBP One," she said earnestly. Her son, a bit concerned, replied, "What parole, Mom? What CBP One appointment? You don't have parole, and you can't have a CBP One appointment because you're not in Mexico, you're in Cuba."
Turning Hardships into Humor
His mother, confident in her logic, clarified, "Yes, I know I'm not in Mexico, I'm in Cuba. But here, we call eggs and oil the parole and the CBP One because we've been waiting for months, and they never seem to arrive." Her son couldn't help but burst into laughter, just like his followers.
"Laugh all you want, and you don't even know what the oil said to the egg or what the egg said to the oil," she continued, adding to the humor. "The oil told the egg, 'Crack open and jump in, I'm hot.' The egg replied, 'You've got to pay to see it,'" she said, dancing to the phrase made famous by El Taiger.
