Cardin.Ja Satirizes Sandro Castro: "For My Family, There's No Blockade"

Known for his sharp critiques of the Cuban regime, the satirical account Cardin.Ja recently shared a video on social media mocking Fidel Castro's grandson. The parody attributes statements to him about his extravagant birthday bash planned at EFE bar in Havana's Vedado neighborhood, an establishment he manages himself.

The video, posted on Instagram by Cardin.Ja, humorously portrays Sandro Castro, the Cuban dictator's grandson, making comments that mix sarcasm and mockery regarding Cuba's situation and his own privileged position.

In the monologue, Sandro addresses Cubans both on the island and abroad with a nonchalant attitude: "To the Cubans inside and outside of Cuba, personally, I couldn't care less," indicating his indifference to public opinion.

Amidst laughter and sarcastic remarks, he acknowledges his privileged status: "Everyone here knows I'm loaded because I'm Fidel's grandson," referring to the advantages his family enjoys despite the country's shortages.

He also discusses his controversial birthday party, dubbing it the "unblocking bash," insisting guests wear white, and claiming, "You all know there's no blockade for my family or anything."

The video proceeds to mock the event's promotional posters: "This has been the most controversial poster because it's one of the most colorful," implying that the attention it garners is due to the ongoing crisis and blackouts faced by Cubans.

"I guess with so many blackouts, you all see in black and white like dogs when they see a light and chase after it like fireflies," he adds, disparaging the population he believes is living in dire conditions.

In another segment, the parodied character openly criticizes ruling figure Miguel Díaz-Canel, describing him as a puppet: "To us Castros, he’s a puppet... we placed him there to preside and be the representative figure while my family, who truly rules, indulges in such luxuries."

Arrogantly, he asserts that the president isn't invited to the party because he neither respects nor finds him important.

Ultimately, he concludes with a provocative tone, ridiculing those who criticize content creators discussing sensitive topics in Cuba: "They keep blaming content creators for profiting off the Cuban people's suffering while I throw my big party."

Cardin.Ja's satire aims to highlight the contradictions and shamelessness of Cuba's elite's privileges, contrasting them with the hardships faced by the majority of the population.

Sandro Castro, grandson of the late Cuban dictator Fidel Castro, has been involved in various scandals over the years. One of the most notorious incidents occurred three years ago when he had to publicly apologize to Cubans after a video surfaced of him flaunting his luxury while driving a Mercedes-Benz on a Cuban road.

"The purpose of my words is to offer a big apology to Cubans inside and outside of Cuba, those close to me, my family, and anyone who felt offended by the video that's been circulating on social media in recent days," the young Castro stated in a video posted on his Instagram account.
