Puerto Rican reggaeton superstar Daddy Yankee and Mireddys González have officially ended their marriage following a relationship that spanned more than two decades. The artist confirmed their separation through a heartfelt message to his followers on Instagram Stories.
"With a heart full of respect and honesty, I want to share significant news about my personal life. After over twenty years of marriage and many months of trying to salvage our relationship, my attorneys today responded to Mireddys' request for divorce," the musician expressed.
Daddy Yankee highlighted that his faith in Christ has been his refuge throughout the ordeal, providing constant guidance as they tried to resolve their differences. "I respect Mireddys' decision and am grateful for the time we shared, filled with blessings, family values, and love. Our beautiful family will always remain our priority," he stated.
In his message, he made it clear that this was a tough decision: "This is not an easy moment, but I understand it's part of my life's journey. It's important to accept and move forward. I must protect my stability, my children, and everything we've built over these many years."
He expressed his gratitude to those who have supported them along the way and requested privacy during this transitional period. "I know this news might surprise many. Thank you for your unwavering support. These will be my only statements on the matter. Thank you for your prayers and for always allowing me to share my music and life with you. Now more than ever, I trust that God has a purpose for every stage of our lives," the reggaeton icon concluded.
Speculation about the couple's split had been circulating for several weeks, but neither had addressed the rumors publicly until now.
