Sandro Castro Justifies His Lavish Birthday Bash: "I'm Celebrating as a Revolutionary Cuban Youth"

Tuesday, December 3, 2024 by Samantha Mendoza

Sandro Castro, the grandson of the infamous dictator Fidel Castro and known as Havana's "king of nightlife," has once again surfaced on social media. He aims to assure Cubans that he is just a simple young man entitled to celebrate his birthday however he pleases. Amid the uproar caused by his birthday bash announcement, set for Thursday, December 5th, at his own venue, Bar EFE, Sandro took to Instagram to assert his rights and "revolutionary morals."

Despite the severe crisis affecting the Cuban populace, Sandro decided to host a party reminiscent of high society events in advanced capitalist societies. The celebration boasts a "dress code," welcome cocktails, Cristal beer, tequila shots for the first twenty women, and complimentary sparkling wine for everyone.

In response to the storm of reactions, Castro donned his sunglasses, sat in his personal confessional—a Mercedes Benz—and addressed his followers, insisting that the uproar is the work of "haters" and "mercenaries" from the United States. "I want to clarify that I'll be talking about my birthday event on Thursday, December 5th, at my bar EFE. Everyone is invited. I've noticed a trend on social media filled with falsehoods, slander, and malice from some YouTubers and United States spokespeople," Sandro began.

He made it clear that he has no intention of canceling his party. His live stream was meant to "make sure no one is confused—I am celebrating my birthday as a revolutionary Cuban youth, with all my rights, in my place, in my business, where everything is always within the bounds of legality" (sic). Is that clear? Sandrito, as he is known, is a revolutionary youth and entrepreneur who will celebrate his birthday at Bar EFE, the same venue where he celebrated Halloween three months after the historic July 11 protests, or where he smoked a cigar, but always "within the bounds of legality."

One might wonder if the State Security could simply confiscate this young man's phone. Or perhaps, it is convenient for them to fuel this controversy, diverting public anger and frustration toward this distraction. According to Sandro, his "little party" will have a "healthy environment," and everyone is welcome, "as long as we have the capacity to provide our service and a warm welcome." In other words, like the animals on the farm, everyone is equal, but some are more equal than others.

Sandro emphasized, "My interest is not to respond to these people who create so much hate and malice, especially when we should all be united in these difficult times. I just want to clarify to those who might be confused that I'm celebrating my birthday as a normal young person, just like anyone else who wants to celebrate theirs."

While the country is falling apart—with shortages of energy, light, healthcare, transport, medication, schools, and housing—here is a magnanimous businessman inviting everyone to enjoy his birthday. This is the Cuba of "continuity."

Sandro proudly associates himself with this social experiment, declaring, "I am always with my country, with my homeland." Of course, he is part of the extractive elite that seizes the nation’s wealth and paves the way for creating a mafia-like market state, with the help of the Stolypin International Institute and its Russian-Cuban Economic Transformation Center project.

"Well, those who want to attend, you know you are invited... as long as we have the capacity. A big hug and regards," Sandro concluded his enlightening direct.

Back in February 2021, this "successful businessman" and nightlife king of "continuity" bragged about his Mercedes Benz in another infamous live stream, where he casually mentioned, "You know we are simple, but every now and then we have to bring out these little toys we have at home." He later retracted, offering a "big apology" and claiming to be a "humble person."

Nearly four years after those notorious moments of disdain from the Castros and "heirs" of the totalitarian regime—built by his grandfather through violence and indoctrination—Sandro re-emerges, partying during an "energy emergency," adding credibility to rumors of a "continuity" elite living from one orgy to the next, with 'El Cangrejo' bodyguard enjoying at Río Club amid blackouts, and Manuel Anido Cuesta engaging in a Hollywood romance in Madrid.
