Organizer of Sandro Castro's Party Clarifies Intentions: "Long Live Canel, Long Live the Revolution!"

Tuesday, December 3, 2024 by Emma Garcia

The young man responsible for organizing Sandro Castro's controversial birthday party took to social media to clarify that the event was not meant to offend anyone. In an attempt to express remorse for upsetting countless Cubans who view the grandson of dictator Fidel Castro’s celebration as an insult to a nation enduring its darkest times, he conducted a live stream where he ended up cheering for Miguel Díaz-Canel and the so-called "revolution."

Known on social media as carluchin_verde, the young man—who describes himself on Instagram as a "chill guy with no opinions"—used the live stream to address the controversy and seemed genuinely shocked by the uproar caused by the event planned for Thursday, December 5th, at the EFE bar, owned by Sandro.

"I don't usually make these kinds of videos, but I wanted to make an exception because I've seen a lot of controversy and many pages attacking me since I'm the organizer of the event... Sandro Castro's birthday on Thursday, December 5th, at EFE," he began, his identity still unconfirmed by our editorial team.

Similar to Sandrito's video, carluchin_verde's live session aimed to "clarify to all those who felt offended or hurt by this publication" that their discontent "makes no sense." If Cubans are upset because, amidst a severe crisis, Sandro is hosting a party worthy of the elite, complete with a "dress code," welcome cocktails, Cristal beer, tequila shots for the first twenty women, and "free sparkling wine for everyone," it's because they misunderstand the proletarian nature of the event.

"This flyer we made is not meant to harm or offend anyone," insisted carluchin_verde, as if the promotional poster was the source of offense, rather than the event itself, which highlights the regime elites' disconnection from the widespread crisis afflicting the country.

The young man claimed they were aware of the situation, which is why they chose "the humblest place in Cuba: the EFE bar" for the celebration. In his words: "the humblest place in Cuba."

"Because Sandro owns the business and all, so... eeeeh... we decided to do it there, but with no intention of harming the people," clarified carluchin-verde, an event planner for the humble, by the humble, and for the humble.

After such statements, what else was left for the young man with dyed green hair to say? "Nothing; we support the revolution a lot. Long live Canel! Long live the revolution! Long live Cuba!"
