A Cuban migrant named Mavi de Jesús sustained injuries after falling from the border wall separating Mexico and the United States in Baja California, Mexico, on Sunday. The incident occurred around 3:20 PM, with the fall happening on the Mexican side in Ejido Villa Zapata, Mexicali, as she attempted to climb the barrier, according to local news reports.

As a result of the fall, Mavi de Jesús suffered multiple traumas, experiencing pain in her lower limbs and back. U.S. Border Patrol agents promptly informed the Municipal Public Safety Directorate of Mexicali, and patrol unit 143 quickly arrived at the scene. First responders provided initial medical assistance to the Cuban woman, who, due to the poor condition of the road, was transported in the patrol car to an accessible location, where she was handed over to paramedics from the Mexican Red Cross.

She was then taken to Mexicali's General Hospital for further medical attention. Many other Cubans, in their pursuit to reach the United States and seek asylum, have also been injured while trying to scale the fence dividing the two nations. In 2021, Mexican immigration authorities discovered the lifeless body of a Cuban man at the base of the border wall in Baja California.

The movement of Cubans heading to the U.S. by land remains unabated over the past three years, marking one of the largest exoduses from Cuba to the U.S. in history. Recently, groups of Cubans have been detained among other migrants crossing the border illegally in areas of Texas.
