The "Ignacio Agramonte Loynaz" University in Camagüey has announced the suspension of its academic activities as a result of the ongoing energy crisis affecting the nation. In a Facebook post, the central province's educational institution informed its university community that teaching would continue only until noon this Thursday.
"Classes will resume on Monday, December 9," the announcement specified. Furthermore, weekend classes for the Course by Meeting, held at the main campus and various municipal university centers, are also suspended.
Meanwhile, official journalist Lázaro Manuel Alonso addressed public concerns regarding the resumption of educational activities across the country following the complete shutdown of the National Electric System (SEN) early Wednesday morning. He explained that the Ministry of Education has stated that decisions on this matter would be made at the provincial level rather than nationwide.
"Nevertheless, with the electric system restored last night, there should be no issues preventing the course from continuing today. This is a personal assessment," he added.
On Wednesday, the Cuban government halted all educational activities and non-essential work throughout the country due to a widespread power outage that began in the early hours.
