El Kamel, a Cuban reggaeton artist, took to social media to address the backlash he received for his recent trip to Cuba to reunite with his family. After a five-year separation, he emphasized his commitment to disregarding any criticism about his decision to visit loved ones.

"I owe no one explanations," he stated, clarifying that he addresses those who genuinely desire a Cuba free from dictatorship, as he alone endures this situation. "I want to give my grandmother beautiful moments before anything happens," he added in a lengthy Instagram post accompanied by a family photo.

The musician also criticized individuals he perceives as insincere and disrespectful, accusing them of exploiting the pain of those who truly care. "Otaola, you just want content because you know I react quickly, but what my grandmother wants matters more than my impulses. My grandma broke her arm, which is why I'm here in Cuba. I got on a plane not knowing what would happen, but I'm here," he retorted, directing his remarks at Alexander Otaola, one of his vocal critics.

In the comments, many colleagues and followers expressed their support for his stance. "Don't worry about any of that, man. Family is more important than anything. Enjoy your grandma as God intends, hug her, kiss her, forget about what the world says—family comes first," advised fellow artist Harryson.

Influencer Alain Paparazzi Cubano added, "You were one of the first artists to speak out for Cuba's freedom, both inside and outside. You did it because your heart told you to. You risked everything just for the hope of seeing your people better, because you're living proof. Your neighborhood loves you and represents you. We don't want martyrs; we want real Cubans who understand the cause. History will deal with the pretenders. Those who don't love their family have no right to call themselves patriots."
