Javier Berridy Finds a Familiar Reminder of Cuba on an American Airlines Flight

Monday, December 9, 2024 by Ernesto Alvarez

During a recent flight with American Airlines, Cuban comedian Javier Berridy experienced an unexpected moment that he eagerly shared with his followers on Instagram. In a video, he captured his surprise upon discovering the armrest of the seat next to him was completely patched up with duct tape.

"You know, back in Cuba, we used tape to fix everything. If the fan broke, we used tape; if the bed leg snapped, we used tape; if a piece of furniture fell apart, tape was the solution," Berridy explained, setting the stage for his amusing observation.

He continued by humorously noting that American Airlines seemed to have taken a page from the Cuban playbook. "They're copying us, because look at the seat next to me—held together with tape," he remarked.

Berridy showed how the seat was coming apart at the back, with tape being the chosen fix to keep it operational. "Can you believe this? This is American Airlines, not Cubana de Aviación. So, where do you think tape works better?" he joked, concluding his video with a playful tone.

The post quickly filled with humorous and reflective comments from followers. One person jokingly expressed their frustration: "I find it disrespectful, considering how much we pay for a ticket and the planes aren't even decent. It's ridiculous; I once boarded a plane where they were fixing the ceiling while I was seated." Another, with sarcasm, added: "What you didn't notice was the engine also had tape on it." Amid laughter, someone else pointed out, "They're copying us, buddy. They're stealing our ideas."
