During a visit to Santiago de Cuba on Monday, a bus from Miguel Díaz-Canel's personal security detail collided with a motorcycle on a city street. Independent journalist Yosmany Mayeta Labrada reported that the motorcade accompanying and protecting the Cuban leader was traveling along 8th Street in the Vista Alegre neighborhood when the incident occurred.

"This street leads to the luxurious residences of Cuban officials within 'Personal Security,' a place similar to 'Punto Cero' in Havana," Mayeta Labrada explained on his Facebook page.

Eyewitnesses described how a Transtur bus struck both the motorcyclist and a passenger. Fortunately, they only sustained minor injuries, "just a few scratches."

"The Transtur bus was carrying security personnel, you know the big guy was here, and it hit the motorcyclist who was riding correctly; they ignored the stop sign. Luckily, nothing serious happened," recounted a witness at the scene.

"Both the rider and the passenger are unharmed, although the motorcycle was flipped over," added the witness.

On Monday, Díaz-Canel traveled to Santiago, where he visited the Palace of Pioneers and a local educational center.
