Cuban Woman in the U.S. Goes Over Budget on Shopping Spree at Costco and Aldi

Saturday, December 14, 2024 by Isabella Sanchez

Shopping with a budget in mind is no easy feat, as Rosmy, a Cuban living in the United States, knows all too well. Her recent trips to Costco, Aldi, and another local store went beyond her initial financial plan: she intended to spend $300, but the total exceeded $600. "Today we're heading to Costco to see what we can buy with a $300 budget," she shared in a video on her TikTok account, @rosmy_f4. "I can tell you we went over budget, but I bought everything I needed."

During her shopping spree at Costco, she picked up tortillas, oil, tomato puree, sauces, juices, ham, meat, diapers, and even a cake to celebrate her anniversary. At Aldi, she added fresh produce like potatoes, bananas, sausages, and ground meats to her cart. Lastly, at the smaller store, she purchased milk, yogurt, and nougats. In total, she spent $393 at Costco, $211 at Aldi, and $44 at the smaller store.

A few weeks back, Rosmy went viral after expressing her frustration with the prices at Costco, where she spent $339.15 on 23 mostly hygiene-related items. This sparked a debate about whether shopping at that store is truly worth it. This time around, her followers were quick to respond again.

"Everything's gone up, for heaven's sake, and the saddest part is you go for 3 things and come back with 20," said one user. "Well, you bought plenty at both markets," another commented. "I always go over budget at every store; I don't know where to shop anymore," shared a frustrated follower. "I believe you, we spend a lot and buy little because everything has increased," someone else noted. "Costco is a wallet drainer, haha," quipped another, mixing empathy with humor over the situation.

What about you? Do you also feel like basic shopping is becoming an impossible mission?
