Activist in Santiago de Cuba Provides 100 Weekly Meals to the Vulnerable

Amidst the severe economic crisis gripping Cuba, where families are overwhelmed by unaffordable prices, the commendable efforts of a Santiago-based activist stand out. Every week, against all odds, he provides 100 meals to those in dire need.

Yasser Sosa Tamayo, the activist known for his deep compassion towards the underprivileged, shared a heartfelt message on Facebook reflecting on the challenges of offering assistance during these tough times. "Why speak of the elderly, the children, the women, and the many who fall asleep hungry, stifled by the silent cries of helplessness?" he voiced with profound sorrow.

In a touching act of kindness, Sosa traversed the Las Enramadas Heritage Corridor, the main artery of Santiago de Cuba's historic center, distributing clothes and shoes to those in need along his path.

Last November, Sosa made an urgent call for solidarity, shedding light on the harsh reality faced by elderly individuals who wander the streets in extreme poverty, forgotten and neglected. He shared a gallery of images on Facebook, depicting elderly people abandoned without homes or pensions, accompanied only by the fading memories of once-meaningful lives.
