A Cuban national tragically lost his life during a shooting that took place earlier this month in the northwest region of Roanoke, Virginia. The Roanoke Police Department (RPD) has identified the victim as 32-year-old Rafael Pérez Naranjo.

This past Sunday, Cuban influencer Niover Licea reported that Pérez Naranjo, originally from Camagüey, Cuba, was residing in the city where he was fatally shot. According to a brief statement from the police, officers responded to a shooting report on December 4th at approximately 6:50 p.m. in the 4800 block of Lanford Street NW. Upon their arrival, they discovered a man suffering from gunshot wounds who, unfortunately, died at the scene.

The authorities later disclosed the victim's identity to local media but omitted his nationality. Licea's report suggests that the Cuban found himself caught in the crossfire of a gunfight involving a group of Puerto Ricans in a parking lot, although this claim has not been confirmed by the police.

It was also noted by Licea that Pérez Naranjo had been living in the United States for several years, although the exact duration was not specified. As of now, the RPD has not announced any arrests related to this sorrowful event, which remains under investigation.
