Weekend Chill Expected in South Florida: Two Cold Fronts Arrive

Residents in South Florida are gearing up for a significant drop in temperatures with the arrival of two back-to-back cold fronts. After enduring cloudy skies, rain, and unusually warm weather, the weekend promises a refreshing change with cooler conditions across the region.

Beginning today, Friday, there will be a noticeable shift in the weather. Forecasts indicate that temperatures might plummet to around 30°F (16.5°C) within a mere 12 hours, a sudden and stark change. A cold front, monitored throughout the week, has now moved south, ushering in drier and cooler air. This shift marks the start of a temperature dip, which will become more pronounced Friday night and into the early hours of Saturday.

Friday: The day started with temperatures in the high 60°F (15-20°C) across several areas, including Kendall, where some fog was also reported. While temperatures are expected to climb slightly throughout the day, reaching warmer levels, a cooler drop will be felt as night falls.

Saturday: The morning will be chilly, with lows below 60°F (15.5°C) and highs not exceeding 70°F (21°C) in the afternoon. The day will feature mostly sunny and dry conditions, perfect for outdoor activities.

Sunday: Another crisp morning is on the horizon, with lows around 55-56°F (12-13°C). The weather will remain stable, with clear skies and pleasant conditions.

Christmas Weather Outlook

Although the cool temperatures will persist through the weekend, a shift in weather patterns is anticipated starting Monday. The region is expected to experience increased humidity, potentially leading to isolated showers, particularly on Monday, Tuesday, and Wednesday. As for Christmas Eve and Christmas Day, there is a chance of scattered showers in Miami-Dade and Broward.
