During a session of Cuba's National Assembly of People's Power, Miguel Díaz-Canel disclosed what he considers his "greatest dream." As he concluded the fourth regular period of the legislative body, he stated that his purpose was to account for his leadership and address the efforts and "still insufficient results" of his government.
"My greatest dream is to one day stand before this Assembly and announce that the blockade, the 243 additional measures have been lifted, and that we are removed from the infamous list of state sponsors of terrorism, a list we should never have been on," the Cuban leader declared.
However, he acknowledged that "the reality is the opposite of that dream. The blockade and its barriers have no expiration date. It's the way of empires to impose sanctions and prolong them indefinitely."
Consistent with his usual rhetoric, Díaz-Canel attributed the country's challenges to U.S. policies, emphasizing that Cubans must harness the "heroism, intelligence, and creativity that define us as a people" to overcome these obstacles.
