A tragic incident has occurred in Santiago de Cuba where a young boy has passed away, reportedly due to consuming contaminated salami. This claim, however, has yet to be officially verified. According to independent journalist Yosmany Mayeta Labrada on Facebook, the boy, Hanoi Aguilera Montero, was only a year old. He was rushed to the North Pediatric Hospital (Ondi) along with his sister after allegedly eating tainted salami.

The girl remains in intensive care and is in critical condition. Mayeta shared an image from the wake held at the funeral home in El Caney, where the family resides. A relative disclosed, "Doctors informed us that he died from salami ingestion, but we can only confirm the true cause once the necropsy results are available."

In the online discussion, some individuals contend that the salami itself was not defective but had been contaminated with pesticide; others suggest that a lettuce might have been the tainted food. There are even assertions that tests conducted to determine if the sausage was contaminated came back negative, positing that the father of the children had transported the salami in a cart that contained pesticide.

The child's family member was adamant in his conversation with journalist Mayeta, emphasizing that the children consumed salami, not lettuce. To date, no official media outlet has commented on this harrowing event that has deeply affected the local community.
