On Saturday afternoon, admirers of José Manuel Carbajal Zaldívar, widely known as El Taiger, gathered to pay their respects at the family chapel located in Havana's Colon Cemetery. A Facebook user, Pedro Luis García, shared images from the tribute, which was attended by around a hundred people.
"Fans arrived with bouquets and wore T-shirts featuring the singer's image, while his music played from a speaker," recounted the author of the post.
El Taiger's remains were moved to a newly prepared chapel in the Necrópolis de Colón last Friday, December 20th. Here, they rest beside those of his mother, Magdalena Zaldívar. His former manager, Teresa Padrón, took to Instagram to share pictures of the chapel's transformation after weeks of preparation.
"Promise fulfilled," she captioned one of her Instagram stories, expressing her wish for the reggaeton artist’s final resting place to be alongside his mother.
The location features a headstone marking Magdalena’s birth and death dates, inscribed with the words "goal achieved." Above it lies the urn containing El Taiger’s ashes, which were brought over from Miami. Behind this setup, a portrait of El Taiger looking skyward is displayed alongside a Cuban flag.
