Amidst the severe economic crisis gripping Cuba, a resourceful young driver showcased his creativity by attaching an additional fuel tank to his motorcycle. A video shared on the Facebook group "Rodando Por Cuba" highlights this unique adaptation, which quickly became a sensation among fellow drivers waiting in line to refuel.
Thanks to his innovation and skill, the motorcyclist can now navigate the streets for longer periods, as fuel distribution is typically restricted to the vehicle's tank capacity. This isn't the first time a Cuban motorcyclist has devised such an invention to overcome the fuel shortage.
Back in April of last year, a motorcycle in Matanzas gained notoriety for featuring a "bump"—an enlarged fuel tank that resembled a small gas cylinder. "Not even NASA can top this; I dub it The Tank with a Bump," joked Facebook user Kimbe Marquez, who shared the image.
"The gasoline situation in Cuba has forced Cubans to come up with creative solutions to obtain a bit more of the precious and scarce fuel," commented Marquez at the time.
Innovative Solutions for Fuel Shortages in Cuba
What prompted the Cuban driver to modify his motorcycle?
The severe economic crisis and fuel shortages in Cuba prompted the driver to attach an additional tank to his motorcycle, allowing him to carry more fuel and travel longer distances.
How have other Cubans adapted to the fuel shortage?
Other Cubans have employed similar inventive solutions, such as modifying their vehicles to carry more fuel or finding alternative methods of transportation.
