Lara Crofs Criticizes Díaz-Canel, Praises Bebeshito's Massive Appeal

Monday, December 30, 2024 by Isabella Rojas

Reactions continue to pour in following the massive concert by Cuban reggaeton artist Oniel Bebeshito at Miami's Pitbull Stadium on Saturday, where an enthusiastic crowd of 20,000 fans enjoyed the performance. From Cuba, activist Yamilka Lafita, also known as Lara Crofs, described the event as a grand slam "over third base with the bases loaded," noting that she's heard more about this concert in the past month than about the ration book.

Although Lara admits she neither knows nor listens to Bebeshito's music, she expressed joy in seeing the success of Cubans, particularly when 20,000 of them gather in a stadium to have a good time, regardless of ideologies, religion, or other divisive topics. "Yesterday, this man demonstrated that he currently has more drawing power than Díaz-Canel with his ridiculous marches of shame. This also highlights the regime's minimal level of acceptance," she remarked on her Facebook page.

The activist reminded that the Cuban community is divided due to emigration or imprisonment, emphasizing that there is a single entity responsible for this situation and urged her fellow citizens to stop blaming each other. "No one here is more or less patriotic for attending a show. Both those here and those there need to stop, especially those who act as bastions of truth and commercial patriotism 90 miles away, yet said nothing here. It's not your place to tell others where they should or shouldn't go," she emphasized.

Finally, Lara expressed that the success of a Cuban artist should be a source of pride, as the vast majority are simply young people chasing a dream denied to them in their homeland. "He has become the first Cuban reggaeton artist to fill a stadium on his own and deliver a show that met his audience's expectations. Personally, I appreciate the heartfelt moment he dedicated to José Manuel Carvajal. I like when people show respect, empathy, and solidarity towards their own," she commented.

"Last night, this young man captivated his audience and responded to his critics with 'Get off me, you're a weight.' Congratulations, Cuban, you did it, and that's truly amazing," she concluded.
