On Tuesday morning, an apparent fire at the Wind Condominium in downtown Miami caused a stir among residents and prompted a swift response from emergency teams.
According to NBC Miami, both the police and fire department rushed to the location at the intersection of South 3rd Street and South Miami Avenue to manage traffic and address the situation. So far, there are no reports of injuries.
Footage captured by residents shows smoke billowing from one of the building’s units, with another clip depicting water pouring from a balcony. Witnesses say the incident began around 9 a.m.
One resident, who has lived in the building for two years, recounted, "I was sleeping when an isolated alarm woke me up. I didn't think much of it as it didn't persist. But after 10 or 15 minutes, the alarms started going off continuously. I realized something was wrong, so I went down the stairs, 36 floors."
During the incident, residents, including children and pets, were evacuated and waited outside until emergency crews brought the situation under control.
Authorities are still investigating the cause of the incident. Fortunately, the event resulted in no significant damage beyond unsettling the residents of the building.
