Entrepreneur Hugo Puig González, owner of Bar K5, along with the solidarity group "Con Amor Todos Juntos," are gearing up to offer a complimentary New Year's Eve meal to vulnerable individuals, such as the elderly and homeless children, in Havana this Tuesday. This initiative, aimed at spreading hope and joy during this special time, will involve the participation of local entrepreneurs and community members.

According to a Facebook post by Penélope SokomepingDuren, the group has planned a series of preliminary activities, including the distribution of new clothing, haircuts, and personal hygiene services for the beneficiaries. Additionally, influencer Yamilka Lafita Cancio, popularly known as Lara Crofs, who has supported past editions, has donated clothing for the event. Meanwhile, the bakery "Dulces Day" will provide 150 desserts for the December 31st meal's finishing touch.

Hugo Puig González, one of the main organizers, mentioned they have secured three medium-sized pork legs and two small boneless ones, enough to cater to about 150-180 people. However, they are hoping to raise funds to purchase an additional leg to ensure everyone receives a New Year's meal. To facilitate this, donation accounts have been set up for contributions in Cuban pesos (CUP) and Freely Convertible Currency (MLC). Those interested in assisting can reach out to Yunier Toledano Torres, founder of "Con Amor Todos Juntos," at the phone number +5350233912.

The organizers stressed the importance of any support, whether financial or logistical: "Remember, if you can only help with one meal, there will be one more elderly person or child that day whom we can all make happy," they reiterated in the post.

This commendable effort not only aims to alleviate the challenging circumstances many face in Havana but also seeks to foster a sense of solidarity and community during such a meaningful time as the end of the year.

In the latter days of 2024, various acts of solidarity have emerged across the nation, aimed at supporting those most vulnerable and neglected by the Cuban regime. A move of compassion brought hope to several families in Matanzas last Saturday when activists from Cárdenas, in collaboration with a private restaurant and the humanitarian group Solidarity, organized the distribution of 27 solidarity meals for low-income individuals, including members of the National Association of the Blind (ANCI).

Christian Arbolaez shared in the "Cardenenses en Facebook" group that the menu, prepared with care and supported by the bar-restaurant "El Chinito," featured yellow rice with pork, vegetable salad, and a hearty soup.
