The announcement came via SCIRA's official page, highlighting that Manso was selected alongside other Snipe class legends, including Brazil's Bruno Bethlem, Belgium's Andre Callot, Italy's Enrico Michel, and the United States' John Rose. According to JIT, this prestigious group has been recognized for their outstanding contributions in areas such as competition, technical design, and the development of the discipline. Manso, who became the Snipe Class world champion in 1999, is also a three-time Pan American champion (1991, 1995, and 1999) and a multi-medalist in Central American Games. His career boasts decades of dominance in Cuba's first-category national championships, where he secured consecutive victories from 1984 to 2000.

In 2023, his leadership was instrumental in helping the SSL Team Cuba reach the finals of the prestigious Star Sailors League in the Canary Islands. Additionally, his role as an ambassador for the renowned brand PL Sails underscores his international significance.
