In recognition of Abakuá Day, Cuban musician Emilio Frías has taken a stand against the negative stereotypes often associated with members of this secret society. Through a heartfelt message on his social media platforms, the leader of the band El Niño y La Verdad addressed the unfounded myths and negative perceptions surrounding this religious group.

"Being Abakuá isn't about causing trouble or conflict. It's not about being armed or asserting dominance over others, nor is it about displaying an Ireme tattoo on your body," Frías stated. "To be Abakuá is to be an upstanding man in society, to be a good father, son, brother, and even a respectable enemy. The life of any man should be respected, even if he is your adversary. Nowadays, it's challenging to find men who fully embody the principles of our secret organization, though they do exist."

The musician extended his wishes, saying, "Happy Abakuá Day to all the ecovios who have upheld our religion with honor and precision, not to those who have tarnished its reputation." Frías expressed his pride in being part of this society and celebrated alongside those who share his sentiment.

He proudly declared, "Abakua Obonecue Erife Ecue Apapa Obane Efi Acamaro for 20 years and Empego Mogobion Efi Musagara for 16, without intrigue, gossip, or rumor. Happy day to every man who brings pride and prestige to our religion," accompanied by photos celebrating the Abakuá.

This is not the first time Emilio Frías has defended the Abakuá, rejecting the notion that all members are criminals. He continues to advocate for a broader understanding and appreciation of the values held by this community.
