Cuban Citizen Exposes Dire State of Havana's Military Hospital: "It's a Disaster"

Tuesday, January 7, 2025 by Abigail Marquez

A video revealing the appalling state of the Military Hospital in Marianao, Havana, has sparked outrage across social media platforms. In the footage, a Cuban man highlights the unsanitary conditions and severe deterioration in crucial areas of the medical facility, including the operating rooms.

Adalberto Delgado, the individual raising the alarm, uploaded the video to TikTok, expressing his frustration over the neglected state of the hospital where his relative is admitted. "Look at the surgery ward where my dad is, just look. The elevator comes through here, and see how this place is," he remarks, capturing images of filthy walls, closed-off areas, and sections lacking flooring.

"Check this out, just look. It's a military hospital, completely abandoned. That whole room has been shut down," Delgado emphasized. At another point in the video, he angrily pointed out, "This place is a disaster, just look at this mess everywhere. It's disgusting," while showing the deplorable condition of the restroom facilities.

His words, filled with frustration, echo the helplessness felt by many Cubans regarding the state of healthcare services in the country. Reports of the dire conditions in Cuban hospitals frequently circulate on social media, illustrating how patients are often required to bring their own medical supplies due to the regime's inability to provide them.

Michel Díaz recently reported on Instagram that the Pediatric Hospital in Centro Habana is plagued by bees and waste accumulation. Additionally, a few days ago, the mother of a patient at the "Luis Ramírez López" Psychiatric Hospital in Guantánamo highlighted the lack of medical equipment, particularly a broken CT scanner and electroshock therapy equipment, essential for treating patients experiencing crises.

Last October, a resident from Manzanillo, Granma, described the challenges faced when seeking emergency care at a local health center. According to this individual, his girlfriend experienced severe abdominal pain, possibly due to a gastritis attack, around 4:00 a.m. Upon arriving at the Clinical Surgical Hospital, he encountered a group of young specialists engaged in casual conversation, seemingly indifferent to the newly arrived patient.
