A six-year-old girl, Elinzzanith Paneque, passed away on Monday due to severe burns sustained from a gas cylinder explosion at her home in Havana. Her brother, Helinzzon, remains in a critical condition, as reported by sources close to the family.

Elinzzanith had been receiving treatment in the intensive care unit at Juan Manuel Márquez Pediatric Hospital, where she and her nine-year-old brother were taken after the tragic incident last week. Despite both siblings being in life-threatening conditions, Elinzzanith succumbed to her injuries.

Meanwhile, Helinzzon continues to fight for his life, according to a Facebook post by activist Yankiel Fernández, leader of the solidarity project "Aliento de Vida". "The girl has just passed away; the boy remains in critical condition," Fernández expressed with deep sorrow on the ministry's page. "I am devastated; you cannot imagine the faith I had that a miracle would happen."

The activist urged continued support for the grieving family, stating, "We keep praying with great faith that a miracle will happen for the boy. Thank you all for your support; we keep fighting, though we are shattered for the boy. Where there is life, there is hope."

In the aftermath of the accident, "Aliento de Vida" spearheaded a humanitarian aid campaign to gather essential items to aid the children's recovery and assist the family in coping with the challenging circumstances following the accident. The children's mother, Suelen Chacón, had sought assistance for food and medical supplies for her children.

"Aliento de Vida" has requested donations of disposable diapers, burn creams, wet wipes, juices, yogurt, gelatin, and any other resources people can offer. The campaign remains active to support the surviving child's recovery.
