Suelen Chacón, the mother of a six-year-old girl who tragically died after a gas cylinder explosion in their Havana home, has shared a poignant farewell to her daughter. She stressed that no mother should ever endure such a harrowing experience, expressing her heartache at having let her little girl down despite her promise that everything would be okay.

"A mother can have 20 children, but losing just one feels like the world is collapsing, as if nothing else matters, as if a huge part of you has been taken away. The breath leaves you," Chacón wrote in a message made public by activist Yankiel Fernández, who recently brought this tragic case to light.

Chacón lamented the loss, reflecting on the dreams and goals her daughter will never achieve. "It's tough to go through this. I thought she'd pull through, but it wasn't meant to be. Just the thought of her being only six years old and now gone... It's painful. A whole life ahead, full of challenges and goals to reach," she mourned.

The grieving mother recalls her daughter's determination after the accident, as she repeatedly expressed her desire to recover. "I remember, after the accident, she kept saying, 'Mom, I'm going to get better.' She repeated it constantly, she didn't want to leave this world, she wanted to keep fighting, to keep driving me crazy. I promised her she would be okay: 'Mom promises you.' But I failed. Forgive me, my little one," she recounted.

Chacón emphasized her struggle to remain strong, wishing someone would tell her why she cries in her sleep. "It comforts me to know that the kingdom of heaven belongs to children and that she's in a better place. I'll miss you so much, my little frog, so much. Years will pass and always, always, you'll be in my heart," she wrote.

"No mother should face such a dark moment. I'd rather have my life ripped away in one stroke than live through this," she added, expressing gratitude to those who have supported her since the tragedy.

She mentioned another battle she must face, referring to her nine-year-old son, who is still in critical condition from the same accident. "I have another fight to win, and I'll win it with faith," she stated.

Young Elinzzanith Paneque was being treated in the intensive care unit of Juan Manuel Márquez Pediatric Hospital, alongside her nine-year-old brother, Helinzzon, after the tragic incident last week. Both children were reported in critical condition, but sadly, Elinzzanith did not survive her severe injuries.

As for Helinzzon, he continues to battle for his life, according to activist Yankiel Fernández, leader of the solidarity project "Aliento de Vida." Following the disaster, "Aliento de Vida" initiated a humanitarian aid campaign to gather essential items to support the children's recovery and help the family cope with the challenging aftermath. The project requested donations of disposable diapers, burn creams, wet wipes, juices, yogurt, gelatin, and any other resources people could provide. The campaign remains active to support the surviving child's recovery.
