Musical Showdown in Cuban Urban Genre: Harryson Fires Back at Chocolate MC's "Wow Pedro"

Wednesday, January 8, 2025 by Matthew Diaz

For weeks, tensions have been brewing in the Cuban urban music scene. The latest clash erupted when Chocolate MC launched his diss track "Wow Pedro" aimed at Harryson. Not one to back down, Harryson fired back with a track titled "Mitomano." This comeback from the Dominican Republic-based artist dropped last Sunday, complete with a music video on digital platforms.

"I don't know why I waste my time, but I do it out of respect. I apologize to my fans as I'm doing this for you all. I'll never let you down, but we need to keep pushing forward, aiming for bigger things, amen. Let someone else deal with this dark deceased; you're not worthy of my art. You're a comedian and influencer, and that's where I leave you," Harryson lashed out at Chocolate on Instagram while announcing his track's release.

In his diss, Harryson opens with biting lines: "Winter, it's cold, I want to drink hot chocolate. Opening there, grab another one, although I know I'll waste my time. You're not trending, you know I'm not lying (...) Paying attention to you is a huge insult to my talent. Let me spend a couple of bars on this fool, this ignorant. I'm tired of telling you this isn't the old times."

On the other hand, Chocolate MC released "Wow Pedro" on December 29th without a music video but featuring a caricature of Harryson. The catchy hook created by the self-proclaimed King of Reparteros quickly went viral on social media, with many users incorporating it into their Instagram and TikTok reels. The chorus goes, "Hello Pedrito. Who's a fan of Chocolate. Pe-dri-to. Who copied Chocolate. Pe-dri-to," with Pedro referring to Harryson.

How will this rivalry in the Cuban urban music genre unfold? We can only wait and see how this latest confrontation develops.
