The Miss Universe Cuba organization publicly addressed allegations this Tuesday, dismissing a purported remark by Marianela Ancheta that criticized Miami's historical exiles. The comment surfaced during Alexander Otaola's show on Monday, January 6, and originated from a social media account named @misscuba, which is not affiliated with the beauty pageant organization or the young contestant.
The controversial comment read: "They ran away at the first chance, the real culprits for Cuba's current state. We were born in a completely deteriorated Cuba because they failed to defend it," supporting a post that criticized the historical exiles. Another part of the post stated, "The I220A watching how the historical exiles in 1960 fled Cuba silently at the first opportunity, while we took to the streets on July 11 protesting for those who lacked courage," driven by the controversy surrounding Bebeshito's concert in Miami.
Miss Universe Cuba clarified in their press release that they "do not take responsibility for content issued from UNOFFICIAL sources that might harm the integrity and reputation of their talents. We clarify that only content published on our official social media platforms @missuniversecuba is endorsed and approved by us."
The statement further specified the official social media accounts of the current Miss Universe Cuba 2024, Marianela Ancheta: "Any other page, profile, or publication using her image without permission is unauthorized and has not been approved by her or our organization."
"We urge everyone to act with responsibility and ethical consideration, always verifying sources before sharing information. Any breach in this regard will be subject to appropriate legal actions," the organization asserted.
In response to the alleged comment, Alexander Otaola criticized Marianela Ancheta on his show, questioning her political stance during the Miss Universe pageant and condemning the disrespectful remark, supposedly attributed to her.
