Authorities have apprehended five individuals accused of committing a robbery at a farm in the Boyeros district of Havana, after allegedly threatening the security guard last week. This information comes from a source linked to the Ministry of the Interior (Minint).

The incident unfolded in the early hours of January 4th in a neighborhood known as Loma del Burro. The suspects reportedly intimidated the guard and made off with boxes of beverages, rice, and a horse with its cart, which they used to transport the stolen goods. This was reported on the Facebook page "El Cubano Fiel."

Residents of the Havana neighborhood stated that the following day, police captured the alleged perpetrators of the theft. Although the official post did not disclose the names of the thieves, it did share photos of three individuals with partially covered faces.

The rising levels of crime, violence, and insecurity in Cuba are becoming increasingly worrisome for its citizens. As 2024 draws to a close, the Cuban regime has had to acknowledge the persistently high crime rates across the nation, following a year marked by numerous reports of violent incidents on social media, largely ignored by the state-controlled press.

In early December, the government launched a massive police operation nationwide, aiming to clamp down on crime, corruption, illegal activities, and social disorder. Over the course of a week, more than 3,300 arrests were made, high-profile trials were conducted across all provinces, and judicial processes were expedited for severe corruption cases, among other measures publicized by the regime through its official channels.
