"Find a Hobby and Stop Eating So Much!": The Viral Scolding of a Cuban Woman in the U.S. Lighting Up TikTok

"Look at your belly. It's full of fat. Have some shame, get up right now and go to the mirror. What's wrong with you?" This unfiltered message from a Cuban woman living in the United States has taken TikTok by storm, leaving no one indifferent. In a firm and straightforward tone, the young woman reminded her followers that excuses are worthless when it comes to improving health and adopting healthier habits.

The outspoken creator, Randely Valdés, known on TikTok as @randely29, didn't hesitate to address the consequences of overeating with blunt honesty. Her video, which has gathered over 25,000 likes and hundreds of comments, clearly states, "If you're unhappy with your body, you can't continue overeating. Honey, that's why you look like that. Stand up and look down. If your belly prevents you from seeing your toes, you can't overeat today. Have some shame."

Her message extends to challenging the mindset of rewarding oneself with food: "You're not a dog to receive a treat every time you do some exercise. What you need in your life are hobbies. Find things to do instead of eating all the time in front of the TV, sweetheart." She suggested alternatives like walking, reading, painting, or even learning to apply makeup.

The reactions were mixed, with many expressing support while others questioned her tone. "I felt offended but encouraged, haha, I love her," one user confessed, while another added, "Every time I want to eat, these videos pop up and make me reflect." For some, it was the motivation they needed: "I was lying down and started jumping rope"; "I saw this while eating bread, but I stopped"; "I literally changed my habits so Randely wouldn't scold me."

However, critical comments provided a different perspective. "Lovely, but some people suffer from eating anxiety. It's not as easy as you make it sound," one follower noted. Another joked about her tone, saying, "Today, I feel like Matilda when her dad yelled at her, but I love it." Some even requested more of these videos to motivate them daily: "I need you in front of my fridge every day, how do I make that happen?"

Randely is no stranger to stirring up controversy. In previous videos, she criticized the "extra large" food portions in the United States and shared tips for those looking to improve their lifestyle, such as avoiding sharing goals with people who might sabotage them. Although her style may seem aggressive, her message continues to spark a wide range of reactions, from laughter to deep reflection.

"Do you have hobbies, or are you still overeating?" This question sums up the philosophy of Randely Valdés, whose unique style makes it clear that there are no excuses for neglecting one's health.
