Miami police have disclosed new details about a confrontation that led to the arrest of Cuban reggaeton artist Yosvani Sierra Hernández, known as Chocolate MC. The incident occurred early Thursday morning in a residential building in the Brickell area.
The altercation took place in apartment 2207 at 1500 NE Miami Place around 6:40 a.m. According to a statement made to America Tevé by a spokesperson for the Miami Police, the arrest followed a call from Chocolate's girlfriend. She reported that she was alone in the apartment when the singer arrived with another woman, sparking a heated argument. The girlfriend alleged that Chocolate grabbed her arms and pushed her during the dispute.
The victim informed authorities that she and Chocolate had been in a polyamorous relationship for a year and a half, but was not prepared to handle the situation at that moment. What began as a verbal disagreement rapidly escalated into a physical altercation, according to the report.
As cited by Telemundo 51, the police report indicated that Hernández raised his voice and approached the woman in a threatening manner while she was seated on a sofa. Upon standing, she was forcefully grabbed by her arms, leaving visible bruises on her arms, forearms, and forehead, leading to Chocolate's arrest.
After the incident, the woman felt dizzy and rushed to the building's lobby, where rescue personnel attended to her. Although paramedics offered to take her to a hospital, she declined the offer.
Authorities arrived at the apartment in search of Hernández but received no response. The building's management and maintenance staff assisted the officers in gaining access to the unit, where they found Chocolate asleep in a bedroom. The Cuban reggaeton artist was arrested without further incident and taken to the Turner Guilford Knight Correctional Center (TGKCC) at 12:30 p.m. the same day. He faces a charge of domestic battery with bail set at $1,000.
