A Cuban woman living in the United States is offering a reward for any information regarding a motorcycle stolen from her family in Cuba. The woman, known on Facebook as Ana Yideila, shared that the theft occurred early last Wednesday in the Aguilera neighborhood of Las Tunas.
"We strongly believe it was done with the help of people very close to where I used to live in Cuba. If anyone happens to see it or has any information, please call these numbers: +53 5 0298492 and +53 5 8712714," she stated.
Ana further mentioned, "We will give $500 or more to anyone who provides information or tells us its whereabouts." The theft has been reported to the police, and they are currently investigating.
The Facebook post was shared by user Anielys Alberto Fernández in the group "Revolico en toda tuna" (SIC). Amidst a wave of crimes affecting the country, especially the frequent theft of electric motorcycles, Las Tunas authorities blame owners for allegedly neglecting security measures.
An officer from the Ministry of the Interior (MININT) stated in December, "Most incidents occur due to the victims' negligence, who sometimes leave the keys in the motorcycles or leave them in unsecure places," TunasVisión reported.
This stance seems to shift some responsibility onto those affected by the thefts, who are already dealing with the trauma and financial loss. It suggests that the solution relies more on citizen self-management rather than increased state preventative measures.
