Numerous social media posts reveal that gasoline prices in Cuba's black market have surged to 900 pesos per liter, highlighting once again the rampant inflation that plagues the nation's economy. This price hike further exacerbates the already high cost of living and is indicative of the worsening economic crisis affecting all sectors, impacting both consumers and transport operators.

On Sunday, William Sosa took to Facebook to express his concerns, stating, "It doesn't matter what currency you trade in, without a stable supply, it's all just business." He shared a screen capture of an ad where someone was offering 30 liters of gasoline at 900 pesos each.

Similarly, a user named Yoendi Vidor posted in the Facebook group "Venta de Karpaty en Las Tunas," advertising "20 liters of gasoline at 1,000 pesos, or 900 if you buy all 20." Another ad by Claudia Peña in the group "Motores Las Tunas" read, "I have 17 liters of gasoline at 900 pesos, interested parties, please message privately."

On her Facebook profile, María Hernández announced on Sunday that she was selling "20 liters of gasoline at 900 pesos per liter."

Amid the ongoing energy crisis in Cuba, an activist raised concerns last December about the soaring gasoline prices in the informal market, reaching astronomical figures. Johanna Jolá Álvarez took to Facebook to report that black market gasoline prices were hitting alarming heights, while people were forced to endure long lines at gas stations.

"I was just offered gasoline at 700 CUP per liter. I was left speechless. What a terrible reality we're living in!" she wrote, accompanied by emojis expressing shock and dismay. Merely a month later, the gasoline price has climbed to 900 pesos per liter, with some instances of it being sold for up to 1,000 pesos.
