A Florida lawmaker in the U.S. House of Representatives has introduced a proposal to add Donald Trump to the renowned Mount Rushmore National Memorial. Anna Paulina Luna, a Republican congresswoman serving Florida's 13th District, aims to include Trump's face alongside those of former presidents George Washington, Thomas Jefferson, Theodore Roosevelt, and Abraham Lincoln.

"I've officially submitted legislation to place President Trump's likeness on Mount Rushmore. His remarkable achievements for our nation and the future successes he will undoubtedly achieve deserve the highest recognition and honor on this iconic national monument. Let's carve it!" Luna expressed on her X account.

Anna Paulina Luna, originally from California, is a 35-year-old Air Force veteran and former model with Mexican heritage. She resides in St. Petersburg, located in Pinellas County. Luna holds the distinction of being the first Mexican-American woman elected to the U.S. Congress to represent Florida. A staunch conservative, she opposes abortion and illegal immigration while advocating for the right to bear arms.

Trump's Interest in Mount Rushmore

Back in 2020, Trump himself had entertained the idea of having his image added to the historic assembly of presidential faces carved into South Dakota's Mount Rushmore. "I never suggested it, though based on all the accomplishments within the first 3 1/2 years, perhaps more than any other presidency, I think it's a good idea!" he wrote on X.

During a visit on the eve of July 4th that year, Trump shared a photo of himself at the monumental site. In his speech, he declared the monument would stand forever as an "eternal tribute to our ancestors and to our freedom."

The famous South Dakota cliffside features the carved faces of Presidents George Washington (1789-1797), Thomas Jefferson (1801-1809), Abraham Lincoln (1861-1865), and Theodore Roosevelt (1901-1909).
