On February 24, 2025, Cuba's Civil Defense issued an Early Warning Notice due to an approaching cold front expected to bring heavy rain and thunderstorms to the western and central regions of the island over the next 24 to 48 hours. The Forecasting Center of the Institute of Meteorology (INSMET) has confirmed that this weather shift will begin affecting the area from Monday afternoon, continuing through the early hours of Tuesday.

According to INSMET's forecast, cloud cover will increase in the western region by mid-morning, leading to showers, rain, and thunderstorms that will intensify in the afternoon and evening. Some locations may experience severe and heavy rainfall, accompanied by gusty winds. Meanwhile, the rest of the archipelago will see partly cloudy skies, with a heightened chance of rain along the north-central coast during the night.

Daytime temperatures are expected to range from 28 to 31 degrees Celsius in the western region and from 30 to 33 degrees in other parts of the country. Nighttime lows will be between 21 and 24 degrees Celsius. Winds will initially blow from the southeast to south until mid-morning in the western area, at speeds of 10 to 25 kilometers per hour, with stronger gusts on the north coast. In the afternoon, winds will shift from the southwest to the west, and by nighttime, they will change to northwest while maintaining the same intensity.

Authorities have advised residents to stay updated through official channels from Civil Defense and the Institute of Meteorology, and to take measures to safeguard property and individuals against potential flooding in low-lying areas and landslides.
