On Tuesday, former U.S. President Donald Trump unexpectedly delighted visitors during the inaugural tour of the White House under the 47th presidency. He took the opportunity to commend First Lady Melania Trump for her exceptional efforts in organizing these highly sought-after tours. "I really appreciate you all coming. The tour is fantastic,” Trump told the visitors gathered in an underground hallway of the White House, according to the NYPost. “The First Lady worked very hard to make sure everything was perfect, and I think you’re really going to love it,” added Trump, who made his appearance at 78 years old after hearing the tour was underway and decided to “drop by and say hello.”

Trump also shared a light-hearted remark, saying, “You’re very well-dressed people, I must say. Very elegant. Maybe one day, one of you will be here as president,” prompting laughter among the crowd. At the end of his appearance, the former president requested his team to offer the visitors a “special tour,” which led to enthusiastic chants of “USA! USA!” from the visitors.

Self-guided tours of the White House had been paused during the transition period leading up to the inauguration of the new administration on January 20. Nevertheless, First Lady Melania Trump announced the resumption of these tours on February 12. “The President and I are thrilled to reopen the White House to those interested in the extraordinary history of this iconic and beautiful place,” Melania expressed at the time. “Visitors can learn a great deal about the presidency of the United States, the first families who have resided here, and our nation's rich history firsthand,” she added. “This opportunity is unique among nations around the world, a tradition we are proud to continue for the hundreds of thousands of visitors who come each year.”

Members of the public can request a guided tour of the White House through their congressional representatives or senators up to three months in advance. International visitors can schedule their tour through their country's embassy in Washington, D.C. The complimentary tour includes access to several iconic areas such as the Vermeil Room, the Library, the China Room, the Blue Room, the Red Room, the Green Room, the State Dining Room, and a view of the Kennedy Garden, as stated by authorities.
