The U.S. government has terminated the use of the CBP One application as a means of identification for migrants traveling on domestic flights without official documents. The Transportation Security Administration (TSA) has announced that this new policy is effective immediately. The app will now only be used in cases of self-deportation or transfers between detention centers.
This policy change was confirmed by Homeland Security Secretary Kristi Noem, who stated that the decision overturns a "horrendous Biden-era policy" that allowed undocumented migrants to fly without official identification. Speaking to Fox News Digital, Noem emphasized, "Under President Trump, neither the TSA nor the DHS will allow this. Those in the country illegally won't be able to fly unless it's for self-deportation."
CBP One was originally developed during the Biden administration to enable migrants without valid identification to board domestic flights through a biometric verification process and background checks using DHS records. In the absence of valid ID, migrants underwent additional manual inspections at airport checkpoints.
The discontinuation of CBP One as an approved method at TSA security checkpoints will impact migrants who entered the U.S. under temporary humanitarian parole or those awaiting immigration processing. Only those with valid photo identification, such as a Real ID recognized by the TSA, will be allowed to board flights within the country.
From day one of his term, the president ordered the suspension of CBP One and the humanitarian parole program. He also authorized ICE to cancel the status of those admitted under this permit and later revoked the extension of Temporary Protected Status (TPS) for Haitians, following the cancellation of a similar extension for Venezuelans.
This move by the Trump administration to deny the use of the CBP One app on domestic flights further tightens restrictions on undocumented migrants within the United States.
