Rachel Arderi Responds to Claims of Copying La Dura: "It Doesn't Mean She's the Originator"

Thursday, February 27, 2025 by Emma Garcia

The Cuban influencer Rachel Arderi has spoken out against criticism after she shared a "Get Ready With Me" (GRWM) video, a popular social media format where content creators showcase their outfit or makeup routines before heading out. Some followers accused her of imitating La Dura, another Cuban influencer known for similar videos on her Instagram profile. In response, Arderi, who is married to Bebeshito, addressed the comments through her Instagram stories. She shared examples of international creators who also make such content.

"Can someone tell me who invented this type of content? Just because you see one 'Cuban influencer' doing it, presumably because you don't follow anyone else, doesn't mean she's the creator of these trending videos," Arderi wrote, along with images of other women posting GRWM videos.

In another story, she described the reaction of those accusing her of mimicking La Dura as "ridiculous," emphasizing that this format is a global trend and not exclusive to one individual.

Arderi's statements have sparked mixed opinions among her followers, with many supporting Bebeshito's wife and encouraging her to continue sharing such videos. "I didn't know GRWMs had an owner, now do triple," commented one user, while another added, "Every woman has a unique style and essence; let's stop normalizing comparisons among ourselves. The world needs more love."

Other followers noted that this video format is a trend on social media and doesn't belong to a single person: "I didn't know GRWMs had an owner either. The day people stop saying others are copying should be the day they acknowledge it's about following a trend with their own style. That's why Cubans don't progress," one follower expressed.

In addition to the debate, many of her followers praised her style and elegance in the video: "That look is amazing on you," "Very elegant," "That style suits you beautifully," "Overflowing with beauty and sophistication." Others highlighted that her image is refined without needing exaggeration: "You look stunning without having to show off, and I like that more."

Unaffected by the criticism, the influencer reaffirmed her stance and made it clear she will continue to share content her way. A supporter backed this decision, writing, "GRWMs aren't just one person's thing; it's a trend on Instagram and Facebook, and anyone can do them. Keep being fabulous and beautiful, move forward, girl."
