Cuban leader Miguel Díaz-Canel Bermúdez paid tribute to the late musician Edesio Alejandro by sending a substantial floral arrangement to his memorial service in Spain. Alejandro, who passed away on Wednesday, March 5th at the age of 66 after a prolonged battle with cancer, was honored with a wreath primarily composed of white carnations. This gesture was documented by pro-government journalist Roberto A Paneque Fonseca on Friday, noting the floral tribute displayed alongside Alejandro's remains on Thursday, March 6th.

The ribbon on the wreath read: "To Edesio Alejandro, from President Miguel Díaz-Canel." Another floral arrangement at the service was presented by the musician's family. According to Paneque's report, the president's offering was appreciated by both the family and friends attending the funeral at El Jardín Cemetery in Alcalá de Henares, Madrid.

"It was an honor to have Maestro Flores Chaviano present, who was both a mentor and teacher to Edesio, and had visited the hospital with the family the previous day. The Minister Counselor of the Cuban Embassy in Spain and the Cuban Consul General were also in attendance," he stated.

The memorial saw the attendance of notable figures such as Cuban music expert Joaquín Mulén, Cuban music promoter Oniel Moisés Uriarte Orbeal, Cuban journalist Michel Hernández, and artist Jorge Díaz Valera, son of Cuban composer Ricardo Díaz. Journalist Jesus Díaz Loyola announced that Edesio Alejandro's funeral will be held on Monday, March 10th at 7:00 pm at the parish of Santa María de la Esperanza, Ramón y Cajal 3, Alcobendas, Madrid.
