Damir's Condition Remains Stable in Miami Hospital: "He's a Very Strong Child"

The young Cuban boy, Damir Ortiz Ramírez, who arrived at Miami's Nicklaus Children's Hospital on Wednesday morning, is currently stable despite the severity of his condition. Activist Diasniurka Salcedo Verdecia has reported that Damir's health has not deteriorated and he is responding positively to everything. "He's an incredibly strong boy. God will perform a miracle, I decree it in His name. Amen," she shared on Facebook. "Keep praying! With faith, anything is possible," she urged.

Damir made his journey to the United States aboard an air ambulance, landing at Fort Lauderdale Airport before being transferred to the hospital where he has begun receiving the specialized treatments he desperately needs. His mother, Eliannis Ramírez, expressed her gratitude from the hospital to everyone who assisted them in reaching this point. "I have so much to say, but I can't find the words. Right now, I just want to talk, talk, and talk, so Cuban mothers open their eyes. This is a whole different level, the greatest thing in the world," she told Telemundo 51.

The effort to bring Damir to Miami was made possible through the mobilization of Cuban civil society, which raised funds and overcame numerous bureaucratic hurdles imposed both in Cuba and the United States. The family and activists issued a desperate plea for solidarity to save the boy's life, as he suffers from neurofibromatosis type 1, acute leukemia, kidney damage, and other serious health issues that could not be adequately treated in Cuba.

Diasniurka Salcedo Verdecia shared images on social media of the boy's arrival, highlighting the success of the Cuban community's efforts to facilitate his transfer. "Just as it should be! He is now receiving proper care. We are thrilled," she wrote on Facebook.
