The restoration of electricity in Pinar del Río is underway, with initial circuits being powered up following last Friday's massive blackout that plunged much of the nation into darkness. This development was shared on Facebook by journalist Lázaro Manuel Alonso, who provided updates on the reconnection process in the province.

"Electric service restoration begins in Pinar del Río. Circuits are starting to receive power," emphasized Alonso. In a subsequent post, the state-aligned journalist noted that the "National Electric System is reconnecting from Pinar del Río to Guantánamo."

The news was also corroborated by Yamilé Ramos Cordero, the First Secretary of the Party in Pinar del Río. She mentioned on social media that while the restoration has commenced, not all households have regained electricity yet. "Pinar del Río is now linked to the NES; circuits will be energized gradually moving forward. Thanks to the heroes in the energy sector!" she highlighted.

The Antonio Guiteras Thermoelectric Plant in Matanzas synchronized with the National Electric System (NES) this Sunday, after completing technical adjustments for its reactivation. According to the Girón newspaper, the country's largest electricity-generating plant began operating in the afternoon, bolstering the energy supply across the nation after last Friday's extensive blackout.

Despite Pinar del Río's reconnection to the NES, the province, along with Artemisa and Mayabeque, will not resume classes on Monday. In this regard, the Ministry of Education announced that due to the NES disconnection last Friday, it has become necessary to adjust activities within the General Education System, tailoring them to each territory's specific conditions.

A note from the Granma newspaper stated that internal institutions at all educational levels would alter their return schedules, with students receiving specific instructions from relevant authorities. Meanwhile, the Ministry of Higher Education announced the postponement of student admissions to university residences, typically scheduled for Sundays, due to the ongoing energy crisis impacting the country.
