Miami Sector Border Patrol Arrests 10 Convicted Sex Offenders, Including Cubans

The United States Border Patrol (CBP) in Miami, working closely with Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) and the Monroe County Sheriff's Office, recently apprehended 10 illegal immigrants, with at least two identified as Cuban nationals. All of the individuals have prior convictions as sex offenders. These arrests, carried out over the past three weeks, are part of a coordinated effort to safeguard the communities in the Florida Keys by removing dangerous individuals from the area.

“Every one of these individuals posed a threat to the communities where we live," stated Jeffrey Dinise, Chief Patrol Agent of the Miami Sector, in a CBP-issued statement. "The Miami Sector Border Patrol is committed to protecting our communities and enforcing immigration laws. I commend the work of our agents and law enforcement partners who supported this initiative,” he added.

The arrested individuals, residents of the Keys, are listed as registered sex offenders with the Florida Department of Law Enforcement. Their convictions include:

• Lewd and lascivious conduct against a minor under 16 years old.
• Lewd and lascivious sexual assault against a victim aged 12 to 15.
• Statutory sexual seduction.
• Solicitation of a minor for sexual activities.

Details of Cuban Nationals Arrested

While all the arrested individuals are of Hispanic origin, only two have been confirmed as Cuban by local media. They are Manuel Ismael Pérez and Osiel Rodríguez-González.

Manuel Ismael Pérez, a registered sex offender who illegally entered South Florida from Cuba decades ago, was recently detained by U.S. Customs and Border Protection (CBP) agents in Key West. Pérez, who was apprehended while driving a blue Mitsubishi, was seen holding a cup of coffee before being transported in a CBP van to the Border Patrol station in Marathon. During his arrest, Pérez acknowledged his criminal record to a reporter from Local 10 present at the scene: "I know my criminal history." His record includes sexual offenses against a minor, aggravated assault, and drug trafficking. He also emphasized his deep roots in the area, stating: "I've been here for 70 years. I have three children. I have eight grandchildren."

The other confirmed Cuban among those arrested is Osiel Rodríguez-González, who is unlawfully present in the U.S. He has a criminal history that includes domestic violence, cocaine sales, and was found guilty of beating and strangling a dog.

All ten individuals have been processed and handed over to ICE custody, where they await deportation.
