El Micha, branching out beyond his musical pursuits, has unveiled a new shipping service from Miami to Cuba, aiming to establish a foothold in this competitive market. In an interview with Destino Tolk, the Cuban reggaeton artist shared insights about his venture: “I’m focusing on a couple of businesses that I’ll be announcing soon... Like those in the city that send motorcycles to Cuba, where you can send packages to aid Cuban families, allowing children here to send to parents or vice versa, facilitating this for Cubans both inside and outside.”
With a chuckle, the artist expressed his desire to differentiate himself amid the plethora of agencies in the city, saying, “I want to send whatever can be sent to Cuba, whatever people want to send, based on customer requests.” El Micha emphasized that a professional team in the United States is legally organizing the business, and he's unfazed by potential criticism.
He introduced his business, Mercadame, which already operates both an online store and a Miami office: “It’s a business that yields results for people, and I want to be part of it.” A search by CiberCuba revealed an online store under this name, currently limited to deliveries in Havana and Camagüey.
The store’s offerings include food packages priced between $50 and $220, with plans to expand into other categories such as meats, eggs, sweets, beverages, appliances (including fans and generators), personal care items, technology, and hardware.
El Micha’s announcement garnered support from some followers wishing him success, but it also sparked a wave of criticism from the Cuban community in Miami. Comments on YouTube following the interview ranged from accusations of exploitation to expressions of disdain for his perceived opportunism, with some questioning his connections and motives.
Throughout the past year, El Micha has faced a barrage of criticism for his statements, actions, and performances in both Cuba and Miami. The Cuban community on social media remains divided, with some defending his separation of art and politics, while others accuse him of opportunism and turning his back on the exile community.
