Starting Thursday, the Cuban government has launched a new system for gasoline sales through the Ticket app at three service stations in the nation's capital. Juan Sera Blázquez, the Vice President of Cimex Corporation's Commercial Division, announced via Havana's Citizen Portal that fuel supply operations using this platform are now operational at the Pequeño Gigante (Boyeros), 17 and L (Plaza de la Revolución), and Almendares (Boyeros) service centers.
On its Facebook page, Cimex Corporation's West Branch revealed that the Almendares service center has been set up to offer 100 slots for B 83 gasoline and another 100 slots for B 90 gasoline. Similarly, the Pequeño Gigante service center is set to distribute 236 slots for B 90 gasoline.
Previous announcements indicated that users who register with the Ticket app can access services from state, private, or mixed sectors, and reserve a slot at a single service station, as the system does not allow reservations at multiple locations simultaneously. The process includes a virtual waiting room where users input their information and await ticket assignment. Once their ticket is assigned, they can view their position in line and proceed to purchase the limited quantity of fuel when their turn arrives.
This initiative is a response to the severe fuel crisis plaguing the country, which has forced vehicles to operate at minimal capacity and has resulted in daily power outages lasting up to 23 hours in various parts of the island. On March 8, Havana declared that it would reactivate this subscription-based platform to manage fuel purchases amid Cuba's ongoing supply crisis. This measure, previously implemented and then suspended, was reinstated on March 13, with authorities reminding citizens that fuel purchases via the app are "limited."
