A powerful local storm took the residents of Juan Pedro Carbó, in the Placetas municipality of Villa Clara, by surprise this Tuesday afternoon. The severe weather brought with it hail, heavy rain, and strong winds, leaving a trail of destruction. According to the specialized page Tropical Watch on Facebook, which shared images provided by contributor Keiler Chinea Martín, the storm caused damage to lightweight housing roofs, affected covered houses, and uprooted trees.

The report, penned by meteorological observation technician Ricardo Barrio Hernández, was accompanied by numerous images depicting the remarkable hailfall in the area, along with the resulting damage to rooftops. Meanwhile, official spokesman Henry Omar Pérez reported on Facebook that the Callejón de los Patos community in Santa Clara also suffered due to the strong winds, which damaged roofs and led to power outages. This has prompted local authorities to assess and address the damage.

"Preliminary evaluations indicate that the most significant damage involved roof deterioration on some homes and disruptions in the electrical system, caused by the high winds and severe weather conditions. Fortunately, no human casualties or injuries have been reported," he emphasized.

On the same day, another severe local storm hit the Unión de Reyes municipality in Matanzas province, resulting in material damage to roofs, trees, and sports facilities. The Girón newspaper reported on its Facebook page that the meteorological event occurred between 3:00 p.m. and 4:30 p.m., featuring straight-line winds exceeding 90 kilometers per hour, accompanied by thunderstorms.

The meteorological station in Unión de Reyes recorded 30.4 millimeters of rain in just 22 minutes, while several local residents also reported hailstones falling during the storm.
