A devastating domestic shooting unfolded in Pembroke Park, Florida, on Wednesday night, claiming the lives of a woman and three young children. A 10-year-old girl and the alleged shooter, an adult male, are currently hospitalized.
The incident took place shortly before 8:00 p.m. at a residential complex located on the 3100 block of West Hallandale Beach Boulevard, according to the Broward Sheriff's Rescue Battalion Chief. Upon arrival, authorities discovered the bodies of a woman, an infant, and two young children inside the apartment.
The injured parties, identified as the 10-year-old girl and the adult male, were swiftly transported to nearby medical facilities. The young girl is in critical condition at Joe DiMaggio Children's Hospital, while the man is receiving treatment at HCA Florida Aventura Hospital, as reported by CBS Miami.
Media outlets, including Local 10 News and CBS Miami, reported that the man allegedly shot the woman and the four children before attempting to take his own life. Residents in the area recounted hearing between eight and fifteen gunshots coming from a fourth-floor apartment.
"I ran out when I heard the shots and that's when all the police showed up," said Marco, a local resident, in an account shared by Univisión Miami in their preliminary report. Another neighbor, Verónica Cruz, mentioned that her son heard the gunfire and, upon stepping outside, saw the area surrounded by numerous patrol cars and ambulances. "This neighborhood is usually peaceful; you never see this much police presence," she remarked.
