A relaxing fishing trip turned into a violent encounter for 70-year-old Fernando Cárdenas, who was thrown to the ground by a 23-year-old firefighter following a disagreement over a parking spot in southwest Miami-Dade. The altercation occurred on Wednesday night at the normally peaceful intersection of 125 Place and 147 Terrace.

According to police reports, the alleged assailant, Fernando Herrera, forcefully pushed Cárdenas, causing him to fall and sustain back injuries. "You can't even speak without being attacked these days," Cárdenas lamented.

In an interview with Telemundo 51, the victim recounted the incident and displayed his injuries. "I simply told him they couldn't park there and to use the visitor spaces… without saying a word, he just came and shoved me hard. I fell to the ground," Cárdenas explained, visibly shaken.

"Look at what he did to me… this isn't fair. You can't even talk without getting assaulted," he added, showing the bruises on his back.

The Miami-Dade police quickly apprehended Herrera after the incident. During questioning, the young firefighter confessed to pushing the elderly man. He now faces charges of assaulting a person 65 years or older, a serious crime in the state of Florida. A judge has set his bail at $5,000, and he will have to go through legal proceedings for his violent actions.
