Aniadys Armas, a popular content creator residing in Miami, has taken to Instagram to reveal the secrets behind making authentic Cuban-style tasajo, reminiscent of the traditional guajiro method. In Cuba, this method is considered the most genuine way to prepare the dish.
For her recipe, Aniadys began with two pieces of tasajo, noting that in the United States, it is typically sold coated in wax to preserve its quality. The wax must be completely removed before cutting the meat into cubes and thoroughly washing it to prepare for cooking.
Using an electric pressure cooker, Aniadys cooked the tasajo for 45 minutes. Afterward, she removed the meat from the broth, shredding it to achieve a tender texture. She then prepared a traditional Cuban sofrito, adding the shredded tasajo to allow the meat to soak up the rich flavors.
"Remember not to add salt, as the tasajo is already salty," she cautioned her followers. "Once you master the art of making tasajo, you'll want to enjoy it every day," she added enthusiastically.
The dish was presented beautifully, served alongside freshly cooked white rice and crispy fried sweet potatoes. This classic combination captures the essence of Cuban guajiro cuisine and promises an unforgettable culinary experience.
