Two employees of the Fresco y Más supermarket located in Hialeah have been taken into custody on charges of fraud. They were allegedly caught removing merchandise from the store without payment. The suspects, named as Adela Cabeiro and Eva Ailin Fernández, had devised a systematic method to carry out their fraudulent activities while working at the cash registers.

How the Scheme Worked

The supermarket's manager was the one who noticed the discrepancies, prompting him to notify authorities, according to a police report cited by Univision. As evidence, he provided several surveillance videos from the store's security cameras clearly showing the suspects in action. The footage revealed Cabeiro and Fernández scanning only one item in front of the barcode reader, while simultaneously bypassing several other products, pretending they were being scanned and charged.

Through this method, they managed to remove merchandise without it being logged into the checkout system. Preliminary investigations suggest that this behavior was repeated multiple times on different dates. Authorities estimate the total value of the unpaid goods exceeds $1,300.

Although Univision did not disclose the nationality of the arrested individuals, the news outlet La Tijera confirmed that the detained women are Cuban nationals. So far, the Fresco y Más chain has not released an official statement regarding the incident.
