William Levy Speaks Out After Jail Release

Wednesday, April 16, 2025 by Mia Dominguez

Cuban actor William Levy broke his silence this Tuesday after posting bail and being released from custody following an incident at a restaurant in Weston, Florida. In a video shared by Univision journalist Javier Díaz on social media, Levy described the situation as a "misunderstanding" that got blown out of proportion.

Levy recounted that he was peacefully enjoying his time when an unexpected argument erupted among other patrons. Observing the rising tension, he stepped in to de-escalate the situation and prevent further conflict. Levy stated, "And well, I was the one who ended up in handcuffs. It was a misunderstanding."

When questioned about allegedly pushing a restaurant employee, Levy firmly denied the accusation: "No, no, no, no. I was constantly trying to ensure the situation didn't escalate."

Addressing rumors about his refusal to pay the bill, Levy dismissed them: "No, no, no. That's not true."

Reflecting on his time in police custody, Levy downplayed the experience: "It was normal, normal. I don't know if it's a good thing, but I made some good friends."

Levy was detained on Monday, April 14, in South Florida on several misdemeanor charges, according to official reports. After being arrested in Weston by the Broward Sheriff's Office (BSO) deputies, he was transported to the main county jail in Fort Lauderdale.

Authorities have charged William Levy with public intoxication, disorderly conduct, and trespassing on occupied property, all of which are pending trial.

According to People en Español, Levy was at Baires Grill restaurant, socializing with the parents of his son's friends. An anonymous source told the magazine that Levy had offered the group a round of drinks; however, he allegedly refused to pay the bill when it arrived. "I don't know the exact amount, but it was an exorbitant figure," the source claimed, adding that Levy had already paid for a round of drinks for about a hundred people.

Before his release, William Levy appeared in court in Broward, wearing handcuffs and inmate attire, to face charges of intoxication, disorderly conduct, and trespassing. In the courtroom video, the judge accepted the bail agreement proposed by both the prosecution and defense, wishing Levy "good luck."

The bail was set at $250 for each charge, totaling $500. William Levy is now free until his next court hearing.

This is not the first time Levy has faced legal issues. A year ago, police were frequently called to his home due to domestic disputes during his separation from Elizabeth Gutiérrez.
